Another popular online bingo network in the UK is ITV Bingo. They are licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission as well as the Government of Gibraltar. Their online bingo site is powered by Party Gaming and tested by iTech Labs. As of now, they have given away a total of £56,416.05 in bingo jackpots. Indeed, ITV is among the popular bingo sites today.
Recently, ITV Bingo makes use of soap stars in their “bingo lingo”. They have recently created two rooms that make use of soap stars in their bingo lingo or bingo language. These rooms were specifically made for the Coronation Street as well as the Emmerdale. They have added a different kind of twist to the usual bingo lingo in that they are adding influences of soap to how they call the numbers in those rooms.
Though bingo has been around for centuries, online bingo is just becoming more and more popular these days. At the same time, it is introducing more and more new things to the game of bingo, one of which is bingo lingo. If the traditional way of calling some numbers includes the phrases such as “legs 11” or “two fat ladies”, now, it is no longer the case for ITV’s latest bingo rooms. These phrases are being set aside in the two latest rooms of ITV Bingo. They are making a way indeed to connect soap and online bingo together. Instead of such phrases, they make use of new phrases that involves the stars of popular soap operas in the UK. Examples of such phrases include “Betty’s hot pot with wine”, which refers to the number 9; “Trisha crushed by a chimney”, refers to the number 53; while the phrase “Zoe’s institutionalized” refers to the number 25.
According to William Van Rest, the controller of ITV, they have specifically created the two rooms to combine the two great loves of UK, bingo and soap operas. Indeed, the online bingo players seem to love the idea. They have started thinking of what other phrases to use that are related to their favorite soaps.
